ROSWELL
I was driving along and then all the sudden, I saw this sign that said
Roswell.
My first thought was, that can't be Roswell, NM. Then I thought a
little
harder. Maybe it was.
The worst part was, I didn't have my camera ready for it.
MY FIRST BLOWOUT
I was driving along, then I felt a strange vibration and heard
something.
I looked out left rear view window and I could see pieces of my tire
coming off.
I pulled over and looked at the tire. There was no major damage, to
anything but the tire, so I got back in the truck and asked someone on
the CB if it was OK if I drove with a blown out tire. He said it was.
I limped, the truck, on the shoulder of the road about 3 miles to the
next exit. At the top of the exit, there was a cop sitting there. He
told me, it was illegal to drive with a blown out tire, but since I was
trying to get the truck off the road, he said that would be OK.
Used a phone at a business near there and called work. About 2œ hours
later I was back on the road again.
There's no federal law that says you can't drive on a blown tire, but
there
is one if you have a tire with an air leak.
Cite? And most smart people don't drive on a blown tire, st00pid.
Some states and local jurisdictions may say it's illegal.
Some cops who don't know any better will tell you it's illegal even though
it's not just to get you to get the tire replaced from their buddy in the
area.
I'm not going to harrang you on the specific laws since I'm not going to go
to the trouble to look them up, but I sure as hell wouldn't want some idiot
Mad Max wanna-be driving in front of me on a blown tire. The very concept
is dangerous as Hell. I think it's a safe bet that it's illegal, st00pid.
Since the weight factor applies to the axles, it makes no difference if
there is 3 tires or 4 tires on the axle.
Again, I'm fairly sure you're wrong on this one, too.
My first blowout was on I-95 in a construction zone.
Not knowing any better, I sat there for 4 hours until the tire man showed
up.
So uhm you're too st00pid to know how to change a tire yourself? Or figure
out the fastest way to get it done?
I've driven 50 miles on a blown tire.
Just how many lives have you put in jeopardy in your "career" as a truck
driver, st00pid? Yeesh.
Kind of depends on how much weight you have if you can drive on it or not.

MORE Bullishit......49 CFR 393.75
a) No motor vehicle shall be operated on any tire that (1) has body ply
or belt material exposed through the tread or sidewall, (2) has any
tread
or sidewall separation, (3) is FLAT or has an audible leak, or (4) has
a
cut to the extent that the ply or belt material is exposed.
Since the weight factor applies to the axles, it makes no difference if
there is 3 tires or 4 tires on the axle.
MORE Bullishit....tires are weight rated and you CANNOT exceed the
weight
rating of the tire.....
49CFR 393.75
f) Tire loading restrictions (except on manufactured homes). No motor
vehicle (except manufactured homes, which are governed by paragraph (g)
of this section) shall be operated with tires that carry a weight
greater
than that marked on the sidewall of the tire or, in the absence of such
a
marking, a weight greater than that specified for the tires in any of
the
publications of any of the organizations listed in Federal Motor
Vehicle
(f)(1) The vehicle is being operated under the terms of a special
permit
issued by the State; and
(f)(2) The vehicle is being operated at a reduced speed to compensate
for
the tire loading in excess of the manufacturer's rated capacity for the
tire. In no case shall the speed exceed 80 km/hr (50 mph).
Bingo!
You just shot yourself real good with that last paragraph.
It says you can drive on a blown tire as long as the speed is no greater
than 50mph.
You can also exceed the rating if operated under a state permit.

Why don't YOU learn to read what HE posted, nitwit?
